Lift & slide (Hebeschiebe)The leaf lifts slightly and slides; when closed it lowers onto the sealsLarge openings, frequent use

Folding (bi-fold), aluminiumLeaves fold over one anotherVery wide openings, indoor-outdoor connection

How to choose

  • Opening width: very wide openings usually call for lift & slide, panoramic or aluminium folding systems.
  • Space to the side: sliding leaves need somewhere to stop.
  • Profile and colour: uPVC or aluminium; see how to choose the colour.
  • Glass: double or triple, tempered or laminated for safety.
  • Insect screens: sliding and pleated (plissé) models are available for doors.

What is checked at the technical visit

Our technical team verifies dimensions, plans and the condition of the supporting structure, then prepares the specification sheet, which you approve before production. For large doors, these measurements determine which system is feasible.

Common mistakes

  • Overlooking the space to the side for the sliding leaves.
  • Choosing a system without measurement and an approved specification sheet.
  • Forgetting the insect screen when planning.
  • Non-safety glass in large doors: choose tempered or laminated.

Frequently asked questions

Which sliding door is best for a balcony?

Balconies usually get a standard sliding or lift & slide door, depending on opening width and budget. We can assess it during the technical visit.

Can I add an insect screen to a sliding door?

Yes. We offer horizontal sliding screens and pleated (plissé) screens for doors and windows.

How wide can a sliding door be?

It depends on the system. Very wide openings are usually solved with lift & slide, panoramic or folding systems; the exact width is specified after measurement.

Can sliding doors have tempered glass?

Yes. Tempered or laminated glass is chosen for safety, according to the building and your requirements.
