What Affects the Price of Windows and Doors?
The 8 main factors
- Profile system (uPVC or aluminium, build depth, number of chambers).
- Dimensions: area in m² and number of sashes.
- Glazing: double or triple, Low-E, acoustic, laminated, tempered.
- Opening type: fixed, tilt & turn, sliding, lift & slide.
- Colour: white, woodgrain, RAL, different colour inside and out.
- Hardware: mechanisms, handles, locks, shutters, screens.
- Installation and removal of existing windows.
- Transport and site location.
How to compare two quotes
Ask each quote to show the same elements:
- profile system and depth;
- glazing composition;
- hardware brand and type;
- whether installation and clean-up are included;
- warranty on the product and on installation;
- production lead time and quote validity;
- whether the price is final.
What may not be included
Generally not included are the costs of structural demolition or civil works outside the scope of installation, client-supplied materials, and customs duties where applicable. At Apex Frames these are listed separately in the quote.
